Get Your Folk On! Plus

"My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and would happily have continued for the rest of the week!" Parent

Who is it for?

A fun and accessible introduction to folk music. Get Your Folk On! Plus is for young people (12-24 year olds) with disabilities and their siblings and friends. All abilities and levels of experience welcome. No prior experience of playing music required.

What can I learn?

Explore and create folk music and song together in an inclusive, sensory environment. Get Your Folk On! Plus is based on folk and traditional music from the British Isles and beyond. Come for one session or both.

This year we are focusing on the archives of American folk song collector, James Madison Carpenter.  Currently being digitally archived to the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, his collection contains a wealth of ballads, tunes and other material collected from across UK. We'll be creating our own new and exciting works based on his source recordings and manuscripts, and learning more about his life.
