At the heart of English folk

Families

We love Cecil Sharp House – best place for kids in London!

Visitor to May in a Day!

Amazing! We loved the band and caller. It was the best thing ever.

Family Barn Dance participant

At Cecil Sharp House we are proud to run a vibrant family friendly programme for all the family to enjoy together. Discover more about the exciting world of folk arts by taking part in barn dances, afternoon festivals, workshops and experiencing special performances.

Our events are for children of all ages and their parents, carers and families. Absolutely no previous knowledge of English folk arts is needed!

We also run family events elsewhere in partnership with community and cultural organisations.

We want the whole family to enjoy their trip to Cecil Sharp House and are proud of our family-friendly facilities.

Family Barn Dances

Bring the family along for fun, lively dances from Britain and beyond! These high energy afternoon events give budding dancers a chance to take their first dance steps and spins. Live music inspires the dancing and expert callers guide the moves with simple instructions.

Held monthly on Sunday afternoons, our barn dances are an excellent opportunity to discover the world of folk dance and music together in a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. They are great exercise for all generations too!
